Hi all,

(UPDATED WITH INFORMATION FROM MICROSOFT; SEE END OF THIS ARTICLE)

This is the first of a series blog about the Microsoft Dynamics AX apps for Windows 8. Since earlier this year some apps were announced and released as you can read in this blog from Microsoft.

This first blog is about how to change the setup from the ‘Demo-mode’ to the ‘Connected mode’. When I first installed the three apps for Dynamics AX, I chose the ‘Demo-mode’. After playing around I would like to connect to an AX2012 instance, but could not find an option to change the mode of operation.

So this is how you can do it:

  • First uninstall the app.
Right click the app and choose to uninstall it.

  • Search again in the Store for Dynamics AX.

  • Click the application you just deleted and install the app.
  • Start the app and you can choose the mode of operation again.

Now I arrived at the state where I can provide the details for connecting.

UPDATE (18-10-2013):

Thanks to the help of Microsoft they pointed me in the direction of a more simple way to change the mode of operation.

When you go to Windows charms –> Settings –> Account you can disable the demo mode. Also very interesting is the option to reset the demo data, in case you want to start clean again.
