Last year October I shared a neat utility to convert currency amounts using the exchange rate information available in Microsoft Dynamics AX. This was suitable for the versions AX 2009, AX2012 and AX2012 R2. You can read the blog with the announcement of the utility and how it works here. Recently I got the question if it was also supported within Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3. This post will tell you the answer.

What is it?

Within a new form you can use the exchange rate information which is available within Microsoft Dynamics to convert amounts from one currency to another. It is also possible to use an online currency converter, but that will not know which exchange rates are used in your Microsoft Dynamics AX solution.

Compatibility

The question I got was about support for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2o12 R3. My answer is that it is compatible with this release. The source is exactly the same for AX 2012, AX2012 R2 and AX 2012R3. You can download the objects on GitHub: https://github.com/Dynamicspedia/Currency-calculator.

I used the word compatible because it is a freeware utility which has been made available on personal title. My company has no participation in it. So you can use the software, but if you find anything, my company is not the party to talk to. If you have feedback about this utility, you can submit it on the GitHub website.

I do hope you liked this post and will add value for you in your daily work as a professional. If you have related questions or feedback, don’t hesitate to use the Comment feature below.

That’s all for now. Till next time!
